How can I learn German?

Did you know that German is the most widely spoken language in the European Union, and occupies number 12 of the most widely spoken languages in the world? 101 million people speak German which also occupies second place on the internet.

There are plenty of reasons and many opportunities to learn the German language: You want to join the more than 200,000 foreigners studying in Germany, you are planning a research stay for a few months, you may want to visit the country…... Our link provides you with information about how best to learn German. You can even test your German if you had acquired some knowledge before.

The official cultural institute of the Federal Republic of Germany, the Goethe-Institut, has a global network and among other activities, offers German language courses which are acknowledged by German authorities like universities. TestDaF – Test Deutsch als Fremdsprache

(Test German as a Foreign Language)

The TestDaF is a language test for foreign learners of German who plan to study in Germany or who require recognized certification of their language skills. Detailed information and a model test are available here.

The test can be taken at licensed test centres in about 80 different countries, three of them so far in Sub-Sahara Africa, a third one will start operating in 2007:
