ICT in Africa
Postgraduate study and training courses in the area of applied information and communication technologies
The opportunities that information and communication technologies (ICT) offer are evident in Sub-Saharan Africa. ICT and in particular mobile devices are connecting more people and giving them access to knowledge. ICT may help to unlock innovation potential within the region and to solve pressing global challenges such as health, environment and transport systems.
DAAD has drawn up a funding scheme for development of Postgraduate study and training courses in the area of applied information and communication technologies funded by BMBF (Federal Ministry of Education. It is a praxis-oriented programme specialized in ICT but also incorporating intercultural and management skills.
As the programme supports cooperation projects between German and African universities, it contributes to the formation of networks between researchers in Germany and Sub-Saharan Africa, leading to innovative forms of North-South-South cooperation hence both parties can thus benefit from the internationalization of science and research.
