Bilateral Exchange of Academics (WAP)
(for exchanges of Academics from Kenya, Ethiopia, Sudan and South Africa only)
Objectives of the Programme
To organize an annual exchange of highly qualified scientists in all fields of study. The aim of these reciprocal study visits is the realization of concrete research projects which should be precisely defined in advance. They are not intended for information trips of a general nature. Possible period of support is up to 3 months.
Requirements for an African Scientist going to Germany
Applications from Kenya must be made through the DAAD, Regional Office in Nairobi
Documents required in Duplicate
- Curriculum Vitae.
- A joint research proposal including a detailed work plan agreed upon between the African and German Scientist (2-3 pages).
- A letter of invitation from the German Research Partner confirming that this project is on the basis of joint collaboration which has long term goals and agreement on the proposed dates.
- Confirmation from the African University that the applicant has been granted study leave and that international travel expenses will be provided for.
DAAD will provide a Fellowship amounting to Euros 1,840-1,990 per month (depending on academic status of the applicant), which is to cover the living expenses and accommodation in Germany.
