Academic collaboration between African and German universities.

Applications have to be handed in to DAAD Head Office in Bonn by the German partner.

Invited to apply are German higher education institutions who establish and accomplish measures to further educate medical/ dentistry students or physicians and dentists and to facilitate their return to their native countries in cooperation with a higher education institution from a developing country.

What is funded?

Measures that professionally prepare medical and dentistry students from developing countries for an appropriate assignment in their home country. Measures that will help the students, when returning, to be accompanied by a university from their home country and measures that support alumni to receive scientific support and management with the objective of a lifelong further education and a continuing connection to Germany. These alumni are essential as multipliers for the German economic and development cooperation in the field of medicine.

Funding of up to 120,000 Euros/ year is provided for the following measures:

  • Partnerships with universities: max. 50,000 Euros/ year (for south-south exchange in case of more than one partner in developing countries additionally max. 25,000 Euros/ year)
  • Weekend workshops in Germany: max. 12,000 Euros/ workshop
  • Alumni further trainings in Germany or abroad: max. 60,000 Euros/ event
  • internships in developing countries

The funding period is max. four years.

Application deadline annually June 30th, by German partner university in charge, for funding starting the following year.
